Rotate PDF

Rotate all pages of a PDF by 90°, 180°, or 270°. Browser-side, no upload.

Rotate every page of a PDF by 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Fix sideways scans and upside-down pages instantly.

Rotate PDF is the fix for one of the most common scanning frustrations: pages that come out sideways or upside-down. Rather than re-scan the document, you can rotate digitally in seconds — and the rotation is permanent in the saved file (not just a view setting).

Pick Rack's Rotate PDF tool rotates all pages of a PDF by a chosen angle (90, 180, or 270 degrees clockwise) using the [pdf-lib](https://github.com/Hopding/pdf-lib) library directly in your browser. No upload, no quality loss, no watermark, no signup.

Useful for: scans that came out wrong-way-up, mobile camera captures of receipts and contracts, multi-page documents where the orientation is inconsistent.

Key features

  • All four orientationsRotate by 90, 180, or 270 degrees. To restore the original, rotate by the complementary amount (e.g., 270 + 90 = 360).
  • Browser-side, no uploadYour PDF stays on your device. Privacy guaranteed for confidential scans.
  • Permanent rotationRotation is saved into the file metadata. Recipients see correct orientation regardless of viewer.
  • No quality lossOnly metadata is changed — text remains vector-sharp, images keep original resolution.
  • All pages or noneRotates every page uniformly. For per-page rotation, run the tool multiple times with extracted ranges.

How to use

  1. Step 1: Upload your PDFDrag or click to add a single PDF up to 200MB.
  2. Step 2: Choose rotation angle90° (clockwise quarter turn), 180° (upside down), or 270° (counter-clockwise).
  3. Step 3: Click RotateProcessing finishes in under a second for most files.
  4. Step 4: Download rotated.pdfSave the rotated file. All pages are now correctly oriented.

When to use

  • Fix sideways scans from a flatbed scanner that processed pages in the wrong orientation
  • Correct mobile photos of contracts or receipts converted to PDF
  • Rotate engineering drawings that need landscape orientation for printing
  • Fix mixed-orientation documents where some pages came out wrong
  • Prepare PDFs for tablet reading where you prefer landscape over portrait

Frequently asked questions

Does the rotation persist when I open the PDF in another viewer?

Yes. The rotation is written into the page metadata, not just applied as a view setting. Adobe Reader, Foxit, Preview, and all browser PDF viewers will show the rotated orientation.

Can I rotate only specific pages, not all of them?

Not directly. To rotate a single page, use Split PDF to extract it, rotate the extracted file, then merge back. A per-page rotation feature may be added later.

Will the file size change after rotation?

No, rotation only updates page metadata. File size, image quality, and text fidelity are identical to the input.

What if I need to rotate 45 degrees or another non-standard angle?

The PDF format only supports rotations in 90-degree increments. For other angles, you would need to re-render pages as images and rotate, which loses quality. Most viewers support 90/180/270 only.

Can I rotate an encrypted PDF?

Yes, if you have view permission. The output preserves the encryption-removed content. Re-encrypt with Protect PDF if needed.

Is rotating reversible?

Yes. To restore a 90° rotation, rotate by 270° (or rotate 90° three more times). 180° is undone by another 180° rotation.
